Indian classical music is bound by the melodic system of ragas and rhythmic system of talas. A raga is a specific melodic unit based on one of many Indian scales and determined by the notes used, their ascending and descending sequences, hierarchy of importance, in association with a time of the day or night and emotions.

 

The musically gifted Kamal Sabri is the son of sarangi legend Ustad Sabri Khan and is carrying forward the rich legacy of the Sania Gharana of Moradabad with single minded dedication. Kamal, who is the seventh generation of a distinguished family of traditional musicians, has demonstrated profound versatility in playing the Sarangi. He was initiated and trained by his father in the style of the Senia Gharana (school) of Rampur, Moradabad from the tender age of 5 years and very soon this child prodigy made waves in the musical world with his talent. His musical brilliance and talent as a seasoned accompanist gained immense popularity amongst eminent classical vocalists. In India Kamal participated in several prestigious festivals over the years like the Harballabh Music Festival in Jallandhar, Tansen Samaroh in Gwalior, Saptak Festival Ahmedabad, Swami Haridas Music festival Mumbai to name a few.

A Graded Artist of All India Radio, Kamal is a regular performer on All India Radio and Indian National Television. He has appeared in many Radio Sangeet Sammelans and National Programmes of Music and has won several awards. This multifaceted musician is also a composer, who has delivered powerfully ambient scores for documentary films. Kamal continues to explore the vast realm of the music world yet retaining the purity of the Indian Classical Music thorough the strings of his Sarangi.

 

Debajyoti Sanyal was immersed in music at a very early age and received his tuition first from his late father, Amelendu Sanyal and later by the renowned tabla maestros Pandit Shankar Ghosh and Pandit Anindo Chatterjee. Whilst Debajyoti has a wide knowledge of the many gharanas of tabla he is versed in the Farrukhabad gharana. He has an amazing touch on the tabla and is able to bring any piece of melody to life with his magical sense of rhythm. He has a wonderful skill in being able to draw out all of the beautiful subtleties of the tabla even when playing with great speed and intensity. He is able to adjust to any musical situation and add a creative touch to whatever style of music he is playing whether it is Eastern or Western. In India, he regularly accompanies renowned musicians in Indian classical music concerts but in recent years he has travelled extensively in Europe to give Indian classical concerts and classes, and also to participate in various projects of World Music. …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

amal Sabriist der Sohn der Sarangi-Legende Ustad Sabri Khan und trägt das reiche Erbe der Sania Gharana (Schule) von Moradabad mit zielstrebiger Hingabe. Kamal, siebte Generation einer angesehenen Familie traditioneller Musiker, beweist eine große Vielseitigkeit beim Spiel der Sarangi. Er wurde von seinem Vater im Alter von 5 Jahren initiiert und ausgebildet und sehr bald machte dieses Wunderkind mit seinem Talent in der musikalischen Welt auf sich aufmerksam. Seine musikalische Brillanz und sein Talent als begabter Begleiter erreichten bei namhaften klassischen Vokalisten große Beliebtheit. Kamal erforscht weiterhin das weite Reich der Musikwelt und bewahrt die Reinheit der indischen Klassik mit den Saiten seiner Sarangi.


Debajyoti Sanyaltauchte schon sehr früh in die Musik ein und erhielt seinen Unterricht zuerst von seinem Vater Amelendu Sanyal und später von den renommierten Tabla-Maestros Pandit Shankar Ghosh und Pandit Anindo Chatterjee. Während Debajyoti ein breites Wissen über die vielen Gharanas hat, ist er in der Farrukhabad Gharana versiert. Er und kann mit seinem magischen Rhythmusgefühl jedes Stück Melodie zum Leben erwecken. Er hat eine wunderbare Fähigkeit, alle schönen Feinheiten aus der Tabla herauszuholen, selbst wenn er mit großer Geschwindigkeit und Intensität spielt. Er ist in der Lage, sich an jede musikalische Situation anzupassen und einen kreativen Touch für jeden Musikstil zu geben, sei es Eastern oder Western. In Indien begleitet er regelmäßig renommierte Musiker in indischen Klassikkonzerten, aber in den letzten Jahren ist er viel in Europa gereist, um indische klassische Konzerte und Kurse zu geben und auch an verschiedenen Projekten der Weltmusik teilzunehmen.
