Born in the family of academicians and business persons in Kolkata, Sangeeta Majumder is the first generation in her family who chose her career in the field of Kathak dance. This exceptionally talented and creative danseuse who is an empanelled artist of the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), is presently practicing in the prime institution of India of the legendary Kathak Maestro and the world’s most celebrated Kathak Guru Padmavibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj, named ‘Kalashram’, New Delhi, under the guidance of Pandit Deepak Maharaj. She has also been fortunate to learn from Pandit Ram Mohan Maharaj in the famous institution Sriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, New Delhi. Though, learning in Guru-Shishya Parampara since many years she is a First Class Master Degree holder in Kathak Dance from Punjabi University, Patiala and Diploma with Distinction in ‘Kathak’ from ‘Chandigarh University’. This multi-faceted young dancer also holds a Master Degree in English from ‘University of Calcutta’.
In 2011, her deep involvement, commitment and awareness towards society accelerated her to an endeavor ‘Strings N Steps’. This is an NGO, registered under society act, situated in New Delhi. This is a cultural group which promotes and teaches children music and dance and makes them aware of Art, Culture and of the strong cultural heritage of India. As the General Secretary of Strings N Steps, she organizes the ‘Strings N Steps Festival’ in New Delhi every year. This gives a platform to the little budding artists to perform with the established stars from Indian Classical field.
Sangeeta organizes different kinds of charitable cultural events in different parts of India to popularize traditional music and dance in her own ways by sponsoring the disadvantaged artists with grants. She has organised this kind of programs in Jharkhand, in Kathmandu and in West Bengal with the financial support from ‘Strings N Steps’.
She had mesmerized audiences in the neighbouring countries of India like Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan but also in South American countries and in Europe and Middle-East. She is not only a true stage performer, she is a professor of Kathak having students from all over the world.
Sangeeta is currently running a Music, Dance and general education school in Kolkata named Kalasangam and she teaches Kathak in India and abroad . Her pleasant mind and personality reflect in her dance presentation on stage and completes her as one of the most sparkling Kathak soloists. Her decorative performances made her as a role model to the younger students of her genre.
Sangeeta learnt vocal music under the able guidance of renowned guru Charanjit Soni in Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra. She manifested her versatility as a commercial model and TV anchor. She has also learnt Bharatnatyam, Kathakali, Manipuri and Salsa, Waltz and Jazz dance.
Sangeeta’s dance performance will be completed by the live music support from Hawaiian guitarist Shri Neel Ranjan Mukherjee and by table artiste Mr Yatziv Kaspi.
A prime disciple of legendary Sitar maestro Pandit Debu Chaudhuri, Neel Ranjan Mukherjee is the one & only performer playing Indian classical music on the traditional Hawaiian guitar over two decades. He enthralls his audiences with 7 main strings and 4 octaves without adding any extra strings like sympathetic or drone in it which is a rare phenomenon. His natural sense of music & melody of the Ragas & limitless guidance of his guru made him the finest musician of the present era. Neel Ranjan Mukherjee is empaneled with ICCR as outstanding artiste.

Sangeeta Majumder entstammt einer Familie von Akademikern und Geschäftsleuten aus Kolkata. Sie ist das erste Familienmitglied, das seine Karriere auf dem Gebiet des Kathak-Tanzes gewählt hat. Diese außergewöhnlich talentierte und kreative Tänzerin ist eine ICCR-gelistete Künstlerin und praktiziert derzeit in der Indiens Top-Institution des legendären Kathak Maestro und des weltweit berühmtesten Kathak Guru Padmavibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj Kalashram, Neu Delhi unter der Leitung von Pandit Deepak Maharaj. Sie hatte auch das Glück, von Pandit Ram Mohan Maharaj in der berühmten Institution Sriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra in Neu Delhi zu lernen. Obwohl sie seit vielen Jahren in Guru-Shishya Parampara gelernt hat, erwarb sie von der Punjabi University, Patiala ihr Kathak-Diplom First Class. Diese vielseitige junge Tänzerin hat auch einen Master-Abschluss in Englisch an der University of Calcutta.

Sangeeta organisiert verschiedene Arten von karitativen Kulturveranstaltungen in verschiedenen Teilen Indiens, um traditionelle Musik und Tanz auf ihre eigene Weise zu popularisieren, indem die benachteiligten Künstler mit Zuschüssen gefördert werden. Sie hat diese Art von Programmen in Jharkhand, in Kathmandu und in Westbengalen mit der finanziellen Unterstützung von 'Strings N Steps' organisiert.
Sangeeta hat mit ihren Auftritten ihr Publikum in den Nachbarländern Indiens wie Nepal, Bangladesch, Bhutan, aber auch in südamerikanischen Ländern und in Europa und im Nahen Osten fasziniert. Sie ist nicht nur eine echte Bühnenkünstlerin, sie ist eine Professorin des Kathak, die Studenten aus der ganzen Welt hat.
Sangeeta betreibt derzeit eine Musik-, Tanz- und allgemeinbildende Schule in Kalkutta namens Kalasangam und unterrichtet Kathak in Indien und im Ausland. Ihr angenehmes Wesen und ihre Persönlichkeit spiegeln sich in ihrer Tanzpräsentation auf der Bühne wider und vervollständigen sie als eine der glanzvollsten Kathak-Solisten.
