Professor Subroto Roy Chowdhury left his mark on the German music scene like no other sitarist: In the early 1970s, he was the first sitar artiste in the GDR, since the early 1980s he travelled every year to the Federal Republic of Germany, teaching a countless number of students. Until his death, he gave more than 1000 concerts outside of India, most of them in Germany. Since 2001 he has given over 15 concerts and lectures in and for the Indian Embassy Berlin. His teaching led him worldwide to various universities - in Germany, among others, to the Free University Berlin and the University of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar. His second LP "Calcutta Meditation" was released in 1983 on the German jazz label ENJA Records. Countless others followed. He toured and taught tirelessly. He played his last concert one week before his death in May 2017 in Stuttgart.
Subroto Trinity is a sitar trio consisting of the finest and senior most disciples of late Pt. Subroto Roy Chowdhury. Each of them having already achieved international acclaim through their own music they have formed the group after the demise of their guru in 2017 to keep his legacy and memory alive. In this line-up they have given well-appreciated recitals in India at the prestigious Dover-Lane-Music-Conference 2018 and at ICCR Hall/Kolkata in 2017. They are performing traditional sitar-material as it has been taught by their teacher.
Indrajit Roy Chowdhury is an exponent of the Rampur Senia gharana in the venerated lineage of Pandit Birendra Kishore Roy Chowdhury and Pandit Subroto Roy Chowdhury. Currently residing in New York, USA, Indrajit maintains an active performance schedule with regular concert tours of India, Europe and North America.
Jonathan Mayer started his initial training under the western sitarist Clem Alford. Later he studied the Senia Veen-kar Gharana under the extremely knowledgeable maestro Pandit Subroto Roychowdhury.
Matyas Wolter started learning Sitar and Surbahar music under Sitar Maestro Pandit Subroto Roy Chowdhury (Senia Gharana). He lived with his Guru in Kolkata for more than five years – learning the intricacies of traditional Raga music. Recently he co-founded Berlin-Raga-Tribe (BRT) – an initiative to promote authentic performances of traditional Raga music in and around Berlin.
Sanjib Pal is a well established tabla player of Kolkata, more known for his balanced and clear accompaniement to vocal and instrumental music. He was a regular accompanist for Prof. Subroto Roy Chowdhury for a number of years.

Wie kein anderer Sitarist hinterließ Professor Subroto Roy Chowdhury Spuren in der deutschen Musiklandschaft: Anfang der 70er Jahre gastierte er als erster Sitarist in der DDR, besuchte seit den frühen 80ern jährlich die Bundesrepublik und unterrichtete zahllose Schüler. Bis zu seinem Tod gab er mehr als 1000 Konzerte außerhalb Indiens, die meisten davon in Deutschland. Seit 2001 gab er über 15 Konzerte und Vorträge in und für die Indische Botschaft Berlin. Seine Lehrtätigkeit führte ihn weltweit an verschiedene Universitäten - in Deutschland u.a. an die Freie Universität Berlin und die Hochschule für Musik ‚Franz Liszt‘ in Weimar. Seine zweite LP „Calcutta Meditation“ erschien 1983 auf dem deutschen Jazz-Label ENJA Records. Unzählige weitere folgten. Er tourte und unterrichtete unermüdlich. Sein letztes Konzert spielte er eine Woche vor seinem Tod im Mai 2017 in Stuttgart.

Sie haben die Gruppe nach dem Tod ihres Gurus im Jahr 2017 gegründet, um sein Vermächtnis und seine Erinnerung am Leben zu erhalten. In dieser Besetzung gaben sie bereits in Indien auf dem renommierten Dover-Lane-Musik-Konferenz 2018 und 2017 in der ICCR Hall / Kolkata sehr erfolgreiche Konzerte. Sie spielen traditionelles Sitar-Material, wie es von ihrem Lehrer unterrichtet wurde.
Indrajit Roy Chowdhury ist ein Vertreter der Rampur Senia Gharana (Schule) der verehrten Linie von Pandit Birendra Kishore Roy Chowdhury und Pandit Subroto Roy Chowdhury. Derzeit lebt Indrajit in New York, USA mit einem prall gefüllten Konzertkalender in Indien, Europa und Nordamerika.

Er ist Mitbegründer des Berlin-Raga-Tribe (BRT) - einer Initiative zur Förderung authentischer Aufführungen traditioneller Ragas in und um Berlin.
Sanjib Pal ist ein etablierter Tabla-Spieler aus Kolkata, bekannt für seine ausgewogene und klare Begleitung der Gesangs- und Instrumentalmusik. Er war mehrere Jahre der regelmäßige Begleitmusiker von Prof. Subroto Roy Chowdhury.
