Classical dances of India are unique in their spiritual roots and content. The ultimate goal of the artist is to attain oneness with the Higher Being. Odissi, one of India's earliest classical dance styles, embodies this principle in its form and presentation. Hailing from the Eastern coastal state of Odisha in India, Odissi is an amalgamation of the diverse artistic traditions of Odisha. Characterized by its graceful and lyrical movements and depth of emotion, Odissi imbibes the soul and spirit of Divinity.

Dr Ileana Citaristi is an Italian born Odissi and Chhau dancer, Guru and choreographer based in Bhubaneshwar, India since 1979. She was awarded the National Film Award for the best Choreography for Yugant – a Bengali film by Aparna Sen and was conferred with the Padma Shri by the President of India in 2006 for her contributions to Odissi dance. Besides, she has choreographed for MF Husain’s film Meenaxi and for Goutam Ghose’s Abar Arany. Dr Citaristi is the author of three books. She is imparting training in Odissi and Chhau dance in her own institution Art Vision.

Ileana is A Top- grade artist from Doordarshan and she is empanelled as ‘outstanding artist’ in ICCR. 

The program includes items of Nritta (rhythmic dance) and of Nritya (expressional dance). It will start with a salutation to Mother Earth and to the Guru and ends with an act of total submission to the Almighty. In between, stories oif Gods and demons are interpreted through the language of body and hand gestures in a visual interpretation of the musical and literary score.

Klassische indische Tänze sind in ihren spirituellen Wurzeln und Inhalten einzigartig. Das ultimative Ziel des Künstlers ist es, eine Einheit mit dem Höheren Sein zu bilden. Odissi, einer der ältesten klassischen Tanzstile Indiens, verkörpert dieses Prinzip in seiner Form und Darstellung. Odissi ist eine Verschmelzung vielfältiger künstlerischer Traditionen von Odisha, einem östlichen Küstenstaat in Indien. Charakteristisch sind seine anmutigen und lyrischen Bewegungen und die Tiefe der Emotionen, die Seele und Geist der Gottheit wiedergeben.

Dr. Ileana Citaristi ist eine in Italien geborene Odissi- und Chhau-Tänzerin, Guru (Lehrmeisterin) und Choreographin mit Wohnsitz in Bhubaneshwar, Indien seit 1979. Sie erhielt den Nationalen Filmpreis für die beste Choreographie für Jugant - einen Bengali-Film von Aparna Sen und wurde mit dem Padma Shri vom Präsidenten von Indien im Jahr 2006 geehrt. Außerdem hat sie für MF Husains Film Meenaxi und für Goutam Ghose‘s Abar Arany choreografiert. Dr. Citaristi ist Autorin von drei Büchern. Sie vermittelt Odissi- und Chhau- Tanz in ihrer eigenen Institution Art Vision.

Ileana ist ein Top-Grade-Künstler von Doordarshan und ist als "herausragende Künstlerin" beim ICCR eingestuft. 

Das Programm beinhaltet Element von Nritta (rhythmischer Tanz) und von Nritya (Ausdruckstanz). Es beginnt mit der Ehrerbietung an Mutter Erde und an ihren Guru und endet mit einem Akt der Unterwerfung unter den Allmächtigen. Im Hauptteil werden Geschichten von Göttern und Dämonen durch die Sprache des Körpers und durch Handgesten visuellen zur musikalischen und literarischen Partitur interpretiert.
