Sitar is the prime plucked stringed instrument of Hindustani Classical Music. The instrument is believed to have been derived from the \'Veena\', an ancient Indian instrument from the Vedic Ages, which was modified by a Mughal court musician to conform to the tastes of his Persian patrons and named after a Persian instrument called the ‘Setar’ (meaning "three strings"). The sitar flourished in the 16th and 17th centuries and arrived at its present form in 18th century in
India. It derives its distinctive timbre and resonance from sympathetic strings, bridge design, a long hollow neck and a gourd resonating chamber.
Shouvik MUKHERJEE is one of the finest musicians of the younger generations from India. He is at ease with the traditional classical as well as the new age music of today. His creative finesse is evident in Hindustani Classical Music; while his predilection for auspiciously fusing cross-genre music into seamless tracks has been already acknowledged throughout India. In the early years, Shouvik received tutelage from renowned Classical Instrumentalist (Sitar) Bimal CHATTERJEE, who belonged to the Enayet Khan Gharana (School). Later on, he was fortunate to receive training from the sitar virtuoso Pandit Kushal DAS (Senia Maihar Gharana), which he continues till date. Besides, he is studying Western Staff Notation and playing piano to sharpen his skill as composer in crossgenre music arena.
Souvik Datta is a versatile, vibrant and innovative percussionist who is well-known in the field of tabla
today. He was blessed to have received the much coveted guidance from the living legend of tabla -
Pandit Shankar Ghosh. A first class in Masters and Bachelor degrees in Indian Percussion Music from the internationally renowned Rabindra Bharati University, Souvik studied the basics of two other percussion instruments as well – pakhawaj, and shreekhol.

Die Sitar ist das meistgespielte Saiteninstrument der klassischen nordindischen Musik. Das Instrument entwickelte sich aus der Veena, einem alten indischen Instrument aus der vedischen Zeit und wurde durch die Mughal Hofmusiker modifiziert, um dem Geschmack seiner persischen Gönner zu entsprechen. Die Sitar erlebte ihre musikalische Blüte im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert und kam in seiner heutigen Form im 18. Jahrhundert nach Indien. Das Design mit einem langen hohlen Hals und einem Kürbis als Resonanzkammer verleiht dem Instrument seine unverwechselbare Klangfarbe und Resonanz.
Shouvik MUKHERJEE ist einer der besten Musiker der jüngeren Generationen aus Indien. Seine kreative Raffinesse zeigt sich in der klassischen indischen Musik, während seine Vorliebe für das Verschmelzen genreübergreifender Musik in nahtlose Klänge in ganz Indien bekannt sind. In den frühen Jahren erhielt Shouvik Unterricht von Sitarist Bimal Chatterjee, später von Sitarvirtuose Pandit Kushal DAS. Außerdem studiert er westliche Notation und spielt Klavier, um seine Fähigkeiten als Komponist in Weltmusik zu schärfen.
Souvik Datta ist ein vielseitiger, lebendiger und innovativer Perkussionist und bekannter Tabla-Spieler. Er lernte von der lebenden Legende Pandit Shankar Ghosh. An der renommierten Rabindra Bharati University studierte Souvik die Grundlagen der Schlaginstrumente Pakhawaj und Shreekhol.
