Regular (Paper Sticker) Visa applications by Journalists and those who wish to visit India to work for/ do business with NGOs may fill online application and submit the visa application with original passports and supporting documents directly at the Embassy of India Berlin.


Introduction of a new category of Ayush(AY) visa for foreign nationals for treatment under Ayush systems/ Indian systems of medicine


Important points to be noted during online visa application:

  1. When applying for an Indian visa, applicants are requested to disclose details of all passports (current/old) held by them. Failure to do so may result in rejection of their applications."
  2. Applicants are requested to ensure details entered on the Visa application form must be exactly as in the Passport or else the visa application will be rejected.
  3. When applying for a visa, the passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months or more. The passport must have at least three blank pages and should not be mutilated/damaged/tampered in any manner.
  4. Suppression of facts and information will not only result in delay/ or denial of visa applied for but may debar the applicant from applying under this system in future.
  5. Visa processing fees are not refundable. Fee should be deposited only after ascertaining that all correct and relevant details are entered in the application form.
  6. The acceptance of a visa application does not automatically guarantee grant of a visa. The visa application may be modified or refused by the Embassy at its discretion. Decision of the Embassy of India, Berlin on the matter shall be final.
  7. The duration and number of entries granted to the applicant will be solely at the discretion of Embassy. No claims and correspondences shall be entertained in this regard.
  8. Visa is valid from the date of issue and not from the date of travel.
  9. It is strongly advised that applicants do not make any travel arrangements before obtaining an Indian visa. The Embassy of India cannot, under any circumstance, be held responsible for visa not issued in time.

  1. All Visa applicants including those applying for multiple entry Tourist and Business Visas are advised to give their biometrics at the time of submission of their applications.
  2. In case of a Minor child, a consent letter signed by both parents/ if one parent, a copy of custody letter from local court.

  1. Government of India has not authorized any agent or intermediary to charge any fee for facilitation of emergency / express Visa/eVisa.
  2. For travel to India a regular/ eVisa along with passport is mandatory. Only categories exempted under bilateral arrangements may not need a visa. For persons of Indian origin (all categories), OCI card is mandatory.
  3. Passport should have minimum validity of 6 months and should have minimum 2 blank pages.
  4. Recent front facing photograph (size 3.5X3.5 cms.) with clear light background. Signature on page 1 & 2 of visa application should match the signature as per passport.
  5. Foreigners can visit restricted/prohibited areas only after getting a valid permit as visa alone is not enough to visit such places.
  6. Afghan nationals who desire to travel to India are required to apply for an Emergency X-Misc Visa on the e-visa portal at
  7. Afghan nationals entering India on X-Misc visa will have to register with the FRRO/FRO within 7 days of their arrival in India. If they are moving from their registered place of stay to another place, they will have to further register mandatorily with the FRRO/FRO concerned at the new place of residence.
