A chapter of the story „Kalyana Saughandika“ will be shown. Source of the story is the Mahabharata.

King Bhima sits with his wife Pandjali in the garden. There, she finds a special flower (Kalyana Saughandika). Enchanted by the beauty of this flower, she asks Bhima to get her more of these flowers. Bhima\'s search leads him into the jungle. He encounters different animals, among others an elephant, a lion and a snake. Finally, his way leads into a banana plantation, where his half-brother Hanuman lives.
Kathakali is one of India’s classical dance styles, originating from Kerala. It is one of the oldest theatre forms in the world. The characters are presented with extravagant costumes and make up.
Isa Jacobi is the only German Kathakali dancer. Since 1979, she studies this form of the Indian dance drama - first with Naripatta, later with Sadanam Krishnan Kutty, with whom she did a Kathakali tour in Germany. In 1997, she returned to Kerala to work out the Kathakali solo piece "Putana Moksha" and later received a scholarship in Kathakali from Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

König Bhima sitzt mit seiner Frau Pandjali im Garten. Dort findet sie eine besondere Blume (Kalyana Saughandika). Verzaubert von der Schönheit dieser Blume, bittet sie Bhima, ihr mehr von diesen Blumen zu besorgen. Diese Suche führt Bhima in den Dschungel. Er begegnet verschiedenen Tieren: einem Elefanten, einem Löwen und einer Schlange. Schließlich führt seinen Weg in eine Bananenplantage, wo sein Halbbruder Hanuman lebt.
Kathakali ist eine der klassischen indischen Tanzformen und stammt aus Kerala. Es ist eine der ältesten Theaterformen der Welt. Charakteristisch sind die extravaganten Kostüme und das Make-up.
Isa Jacobi ist die einzige deutsche Kathakali Tänzerin. Seit 1979 studiert sie Kathakali - zuerst mit Naripatta, später mit Sadanam Krishnan Kutty.
