Born in Kolkata, India, AmitavaMajumdarstarted playing Tabla& other rhythm instruments from early childhood. Being attracted & inspired by the magical effect of music of great Sarode Maestro, Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Amitavastarted learning Sarod from Late UstadDhyanesh Khan. The distinguished maestro gave him training for many years and gradually became his mentor. After the premature demise of his Guruji, he came under the guidance of Ustad Ashish Khan, the Sarode Maestro cum Musician of international repute. Several times, he got the opportunity of taking lessons from the Great Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
AmitavaMajumdar passed B.A. (Hons.) in Instrumental Music from RabindraBharati University, Kolkata, West Bengal, India and is a Graded Artiste of All India Radio & Television. He participated in several workshops conducted by Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and performed in several music concerts in India and abroad.
Amitava has been teaching Indian Classical Music for several years. Some of his students are receiving National Scholarship from Govt. of India, Dept. of Culture. His compositions, including some for fusion music,are highly appreciated. Especially for his music Band named “Atman-The Spirit”, he has been conducting and composing. The group has performed all over India, highly appreciated by the listeners as well as the music critics.
Amitava has been working with Pt. BirjuMaharaj, with Tabla Maestro Pt. Swapan Chowdhury & Pt. Shankar Ghosh.
Presently Amitava is the only teacher in the department of Indian Classical Music at the Kolkata Heritage School.

PanditAmitavaMajumdar will be accompanied by well known table artiste Shri IndranilMallick.

Geboren in Kolkata, Indien, begann AmitavaMajumdarin früher Kindheit Tabla und andere Rhythmusinstrumentezu spielen. Angezogen von der Magie der Musik des großer Sarod-Meisters Ustad Ali Akbar Khan,erlernte erdas Spielen der Sarod von UstadDhyanesh Khan. Der angesehene Meister gab ihm viele Jahrenlang Unterricht und wurde nach und nach sein Mentor. Nach dem frühen Tod seines Guruji vertiefte er seine instrumentalen Fähigkeiten unter Anleitung von UstadAshish Khan, einem Sarod-Meister von internationalem. Auch nahm er an Lehrstunden des großen Ustad Ali Akbar Khan teil.
AmitavaMajumdarschloss die RabindraBharati University, Kolkatamit dem Bachelor of Arts in Instrumentalmusik ab. Er ist ein graduierter Künstler von All India Radio und TV.
Amitava unterrichtetindische klassische Musik seit mehreren Jahren, einige seiner Studenten erhalten nationale Stipendien vom Kulturministerium Indiens. Seine Kompositionen, darunter auch einige für Fusion-Musik, sind sehr beliebt und er ist für die Musik-Band "Atman-The Spirit" als Dirigent und Komponist tätig. Die Gruppe ist in ganz Indien aufgetreten und wird von Hörern und Musikkritiker geschätzt.
Amitava hat mit so angesehenen Künstlern wie Pt. BirjuMaharaj, Pt. Swapan Chowdhury und Pt. Shankar Ghosh zusammengearbeitet.Momentan ist Pandit AmitavaMajumdarder einzige Lehrer in der Abteilung indische klassische Musik an der Heritage-Schule in Kolkata.

Pandit AmitavaMajumdar wird vom bekannten Tabla-Künstler ShriIndranilMallick begleitet.
