80 years ago, on 15th August 1936, Major Dhyan Chand led the Indian team to a nail biting finish against Germany in the Olympic Hockey Final. By winning the Gold Medal, he cemented India’s position as the dominant team in world Hockey during the era. This was the last of his 3 Olympic gold medals.
In order to mark the anniversary of this historic victory Ambassador of India to the Federal Republic of Germany, his Excellency Gurjit Singh conceptualized an exhibition in the honor of Major Dhyan Chand.

As we celebrate our 70th Independence Day on 15th August 2016, the Embassy of India, Berlin invites you to this exhibition to trace the footsteps of a young Dhyan Chand from his humble beginnings in Allahabad, UP to his transformation as the ‘Wizard of Hockey’.

Vor genau 80 Jahren,am 15. August 1936, führte Major Dhyan Chand das indische Hockeyteam in das mit Spannung erwartete Finale gegen Deutschland im Olympischen Feldhockey. Mit dem Sieg der Goldmedaille verfestigte er Indiens Rang als weltweit führende Mannschaft im Hockey in dieser Ära. Es war die letzte seiner insgesamt 3 olympischen Goldmedaillen.
Um den Jahrestag dieses historischen Sieges zu begehen konzeptionierte der indische Botschafter in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, seine Exzellenz Gurjit Singh eine Ausstellung zu Ehren Major Dhyan Chands.

Aus Anlass der Feier des70. Unabhängigkeitstages Indiens am 15. August 2016 lädt Sie die indische Botschaft in Berlin ein, in dieser Ausstellung den Spuren eines jungen Dhyan Chand von seinen bescheidenen Anfängen in Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh)hin zu seiner Karriere als ‚Wizard of Hockey‘ (Hockeyzauberer) zu folgen.
