Important Travel Advisory for Indian Nationals Travelling to Mexico

Mexico has been following strict immigration policies and checks at the border immigration entry points. It has come to the notice of the Embassy of India in Mexico that a number of Indian nationals are facing very strict immigration checks upon their arrival in Mexico and many of them are being detained for several days at the airports and thereafter deported back, resulting in immense hardships and economic loss to the distressed travellers. During the period of detention, their mobile phones are taken away as per the immigration procedures and the detained persons cannot be reached by anyone, including their family and friends during the detention causing further distress.

2. In cases of arrivals from third countries or travellers holding visas (including Schengen visa) other than Mexican visas, the travellers are subject to even stricter scrutiny by the Immigration Authorities, and instances of detention/deportation are much higher.
3. Indian nationals are hereby advised to keep the above in mind before undertaking any kind of travel to Mexico, so as to avoid unpleasant and unfortunate incidents at the Immigration entry points in Mexico.
