Samvaad’: Staying connected with Indian businesses in Germany
Ambassador of India to Germany, Mrs. Mukta Dutta Tomar chaired a video conference, Samvaad’, with Indian businesses in Germany today. Representatives of major Indian industry associations also participated in the video conference.
2. This outreach effort by the Embassy comes at a time when the COVID-19 crisis is afflicting world economy. Samvaad provided companies the platform to share the difficulties being faced by them and the best practices or solutions that have been formulated to cope with a changed world. It allowed an exchange of useful tips for protecting the employees and continuing business as companies orient themselves to a post-pandemic world.
3. The complete lockdown and restrictions imposed by India have helped control the spread of COVD-19. India has continued its cooperation with other countries during this difficult time by providing critical medicines and medical supplies to them, including to Germany. Its role in providing critical medicines to countries in time of crisis, has earned it a greater recognition as pharmacy of the world’.
4. Samvaad is a new platform of the Indian Embassy in Berlin to stay connected with Indian businesses. Among the Embassy’s other flagship programmes is the Make in India Mittelstand (MIIM), which is a business support programme designed to facilitate German SMEs and Family Owned businesses to invest and Make in India.
5. India and Germany are Strategic Partners since 2001. In November 2019, a business delegation accompanied Chancellor Merkel to India for the 5th India-Germany Inter Governmental Consultations. Germany is India’s 8th largest trade partner, and an important source and destination for investments.
