The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the PSLV C-34 today, which placed 20 satellites in space, including the BIROS.BIROS is a German satellite which detects temperature changes and hot spots and is aimed at helping detect bush fires. The scientists of the German Space Agency (DLR)commended India and ISRO for the precision and meticulous launch as within a few minutes the control center of DLR was able to establish contact with satellite. This speaks volumes about the efficiency with which Indian scientists precisely positioned it in orbit.
To mark the occasion, the Indian tricolor was also hoisted at the DLR entrance and about 100 persons including the Director of DLR Prof. Dr. Heinz- Wilhelm Huebners witnessed the launch event at the Berlin- Aldershof DLR centre. Prof. Dr. Huebers thanked the Indian Government and ISRO for the successful launch.
The launch of the BIROS by ISRO is yet another success story of Indo-German cooperation in the field of Science and Technology cooperation. The cooperation has gained strength over the past two decades and is expected to deliver more beneficial results in the near future.
