SHAKTI - A representation of Indian mythology and it's universal relevance. The celebration of the Mother Goddess Durga as an ethos and storytelling from the Vishnupuranas through dance.

The dance form Bharatanatyam is a major genre of Indian classical dance that originates in Tamil Nadu. Traditionally, Bharatanatyam has been a solo dance, performed exclusively by women. It expressed South Indian religious and spiritual themes of Shaivism, Vaishnavism and Shaktism. Bharatanatyam is arguably the oldest classical dance tradition of India, the performance repertoire includes nrita (pure dance), nritya (solo expressive dance) and natya (group dramatic dance).

Sohini Roychowdhury is a performer, choreographer, visionary, philosopher and professor of Natyashastra, winner of the Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman Award, London, and Founder of Sohinimoksha World Dance & Communications. She performed at The Times Of India Festival; Spain’s biggest cultural festival; Premiere of “Slumdog Millionaire” and for India Tourism’s Imagine !ndia campaign and at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2013. She is visiting Professor of Dance at the Los Andes University in Bogota, the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Center in Moscow, Salamanca University Spain.

Her dedication and special talent as an exponent of Bharatanatyam, her unique choreography and stagecraft, her ability to adapt and to bridge cultures have been combined together in her unique world of Sohinimoksha.

Sohini has been termed "a revolutionary" in the world of dance and communication (Hindustan Times), "remaking history in the footsteps of Uday Shankar" (Times Of India) - spreading her art and vision throughout the world.

SHAKTI - eine Präsentation der indischen Mythologie und ihrer universellen Relevanz. Die Verehrung der Muttergöttin Durga als Ethos und Geschichtenerzählen aus den Vishnupuranas mittels Tanz.

Die Tanzform Bharatanatyam ist eine Hauptform der klassischen indischen Tänze und stammt aus Tamil Nadu. Bharatanatyam war traditionell ein Solotanz, der ausschließlich von Frauen aufgeführt wurde. Er drückte südindische religiöse und spirituelle Themen des Shaivismus, Vaishnavism und Shaktism aus. Bharatanatyam ist die wahrscheinlich älteste klassische Tanztradition Indiens. Das Repertoire der Performance umfasst Nrita (reinen Tanz), Nritya (Solo-Ausdruckstanz) und Natya (dramatischer Grppentanz).

Sohini Roychowdhury ist Performerin, Choreografin, Visionärin, Philosophin und Professorin von Natyashastra, Gewinnerin des Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman Preises und Gründerin von Sohinimoksha World Dance & Communications. Sie trat beim Times Of India Festival auf; Spaniens größtes Kulturfestival; bei der Premiere von "Slumdog Millionaire", für die India Tourism Kampagne "Imagine !ndia" und zum Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2013.
