A Police Clearance Certificate is issued to Indian Passport holders if they have applied for residential status, employment or long-term visa, or immigration. Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) may also be required by Indian passport holders if they are planning to stay for a long period in a foreign country.
Foreign Nationals can apply for Police Clearance Certificate for the period of employment or studies undertaken during their stay in India.
Different documents are to be submitted and different procedures are to be followed in the case of Indian Nationals and Foreign nationals while applying for Police Clearance Certificate.
For Indian Nationals:
Procedure:
(i) Fill the online form which is available at https://portal6.passportindia.gov.in
(ii) Document required:
- Self-attested copy of passport (first and last page)
- Self-attested copy of valid visa or residence permit
- Self-attested copy of Address proof (Meldebescheinigung)
- In case of change in Indian address, necessary proof for the same(eg. Aadhar card, Bank statement, Driving license, etc.)
- A recent passport-size photographs (please see the guidelines for photograph)
(iii) Submit a copy of the printed form along with the supporting documents directly at the Embassy counter
OR send by post along with the proof of payment to:

Note: If the documents are to be sent back by post, please include a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postal stamps (currently Euro 4.25) (not digital postal stamps) with the application so that the PCC can be sent back to the applicant.

For Foreign Nationals:
Procedure:
- A formless request letter mentioning the period of stay in India for which Police Clearance Certificate is required
- Copy of visa / Employment contract in India
- Copy of valid current passport
- Proof of address (Meldebescheinigung)/City Registrationin Germany
- Should submit a proof of their stay in India during this period.
- Submit application along with the supporting documents directly at the Embassy counter OR send by post along with the proof of payment to:
