We have earlier informed general public of the scam where Indians in Germany are being threatened with deportation/legal problems unless they pay a certain sum to the caller through money transfer. The calls seemingly originate from the Embassy of India telephone number +4930257950. We understand that criminals are also using the telephone number of the Federal Ministry of the Interior – Civil Service (Bürgerservice). Indians in Germany are cautioned not to respond to these calls.

2. We have taken up the matter with Berlin Police and Foreign Office who have assured their cooperation. If you have received a threat, please inform us with details through email to consular@indianembassy.de and minpersoffice@indianembassy.de and also local police.
