The Sarod is an Indian classical music instrument, which originates from the persian Senya rebab and is played in North India since the 16th century.

Pandit Ranajit Sengupta already occupies a very respectable place in the hearts of the followers of Indian music and string instruments throughout the world. He is one of the youngest artists, to whom the title PANDIT has been conferred by All India Radio & Television, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt of India.
From his adolescence, Ranajit, a child prodigy initially with Mandolin but later after rigourous trainingand practising in sarod under his teachers Late Ustad Dhyanesh Khan and Ustad Aashish Khan of Maihar Gharana, established himself as one of the best musician of his generation. He has been a "Fellow of the Ministry of Culture" and is enlisted as Lecturer in Indian Universities by the Government of India. He has also participated in many workshops conducted by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.

Die Sarod ist ein klassisches indisches Musikinstrument, welches von der persischen Rebab abstammt und in Nord-Indien seit dem 16. Jahrhundert gespielt wird.

Pandit Ranajit Sengupta ist ein weltweit respektierter Musiker. Er ist einer der jüngsten Künstler, denen der Titel PANDIT von All India Radio und TV des Ministeriums für Information & Broadcasting in Indien verliehen wurde.
Schon in seiner Jugend galt Ranajit als Wunderkind - zunächst an der Mandoline, später und nach rigorosem Üben an der Sarod. Geschult von seinen Lehrern Ustad Ali Khan und Ustad Dhyanesh Aashish Khan (Maihar Gharana) etablierte er sich als einer der besten Musiker seiner Generation. Er ist ein "Fellow des Ministeriums für Kultur" und Dozent an Universitäten der indischen Regierung. Er hat auch an vielen Workshops unter Leitung des legendären Ustad Ali Akbar Khan teilgenommen.
