Bharata Natyam and Carnatic music are commonly associated with the southern part of the Indian subcontinent. Mysore is a heritage city with long cultural history. Mysore Kings and Knights, great Musicians themselves, have nurtured the culture of India in a unique manner that gave it a regional speciality. The Dance of Mysore is known today as the Mysore School of Bharatanatyam. To achieve complete expression and experience of this great style, Radhika Nandakumar will present a reportoire of dances on a huge variety of pre-recorded instrumental music with live singing by R.S. Nandakumar.

Radhika is one of the contemporary pioneers of the famed Mysore School of Bharatanatyam, which can be best described as a body of human expressions that endeavour to attain aesthetic divinity within the disciplines of spatial and melodic configurations. She has taken this hoary tradition from its roots to a new realm of aesthetic rapture, where her extensive Art Historiographical research has enriched the style into a mature formal content and her own inborn talent has illuminated it with artistic exaltation. She was initiated into dance by her mother Kalakovide Guru Smt. Usha Padmanabhiah. Radhika’s creative resources were carefully nurtured, intensively disciplined, and trained in Bharatanatyam by her mother and by Gurus Sri U.S.Krishna Rao and Smt.Chandrabhaga Devi in Pandanallur style and in Mysore school. Radhika has now reconstructed the ‘Gaundali Dance Form of Karnataka’. She received a Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India to pursue this work and she has dedicated much of her art life these days to bring this Art form in all its authenticity to our contemporary Art Stage.

Vidwan R.S. Nanda Kumar is a Natural Musician in the fourth parampara generation of St.Tyagaraja. Nanda Kumar’s music has many unique features: rich, rangy, supple voice engineered by himself; extensive conventional repertoire; he is unique in the whole of India in resurrecting and reviving the beautiful and ancient wealth of song heritage of Indian music of more than a thousand years ago; he presents them in attractive contemporary settings on modern platforms. He did extensive research on the musical heritage of the great Haridasas of Karnataka; he has thus restored to the present such precious, rare and exquisite forms. He is the only person in India to sing these in their full shastra-ic authenticity. His research articles on the Mysore School of Bharatanatyam have secured for him a high place in the creative and critical scholarship. Nanda Kumar has sung in the National network of Doordarshan, the CPC and other popular cable networks. He has published many audiocassettes and CDs. He broadcasts frequently from All India Radio. He has conducted the famous Indra Dhanus Orchestra of the Youth at the World Kannada Conference and was felicitated by the Govt. of Karnataka. He is recognized as an Outstanding Musician of our country by the ICCR, New Delhi. Nanda Kumar has many interesting dimensions: he is adept in yoga, in Srividya Tantra {Kadimarga}, a wizard in predictive Astrology.

Bharata Natyam und Karnatische Musik werden in der Regel mit dem südlichen Teil des indischen Subkontinents verbunden. Mysore ist eine Stadt mit langer Kulturgeschichte. Die Könige und Ritter, selbst vorzügliche Musiker, haben der Kultur Indiens in einer einzigartigen Art und Weise eine regionale Besonderheit verliehen. Der Tanz von Mysore ist heute bekannt als ‚School of Mysore Bharatanatyam’. Um einen gößtmöglichen Eindruck dieser berühmten Tanzform zu bekommen, wird Radhika Nandakumar ein Tanzreportoire mit großer Vielfalt und mit live-Gesang von RS Nandakumar präsentieren.

Radhika Nandakumar ist eine Pionierin der berühmten Mysore School of Bharatanatyam, die am besten als Institut für menschlichen Ausdruck und Ästhetik beschrieben werden kann. Sie hat mit ihrem angeborenen Talent dieser uralten Tradition eine neue Ästhetik verliehen. Radhika begann das Tanzen bei ihrer Mutter Guru Kalakovide Usha Padmanabhiah. Radhika wurde sorgfältig in Bharatanatyam von ihrer Mutter und von den Gurus Sri Krishna Rao und Smt. Chandrabhaga Devi trainiert. Sie hat die \'Gaundali Tanzform von Karnataka\' rekonstruiert und erhielt ein Stipendium des Ministeriums für Kultur, wodurch sie viel von ihrem Leben der Tanzkunst widmet, um diese in all seiner Echtheit zu bewahren.

Vidwan R.S. Nanda Kumar ist Musiker der vierten Generation der Tyagaraja- Schule. Seine feine, geschmeidige Stimme machte ihn mit seinem selbst erstellten umfangreichen Repertoire in ganz Indien bekannt. Mit seiner Kunst belebt er die schönen und alten Lieder indischer Musiker von mehr als tausend Jahren neu und präsentiert sie in einer ansprechenden und modernen Form. Als einziger Künstler in Indien kann er diese mit voller Authentizität singen. Seine Forschungsartikel bei der School of Mysore Bharatanatyam haben ihm hohes Ansehen beschert. Nanda Kumar hat viele Audiokassetten und CDs veröffentlicht und ist regelmäßig bei All India Radio zu hören. Er gilt nicht nur als ein hervorragender Musiker, sondern ist auch geschickt in Yoga, in Srividya Tantra und in prädiktiver Astrologie.
