HINDUSTANI VOCAL MEETS KATHAK
An evening with North Indian music and dance in two parts:
Classical North Indian vocal music by

Sudokshina Chatterjee acquired her graduation in English Literature from Calcutta University and in Music from Rabindra Bharati University Kolkata. Having learnt Hindustani classical vocal since childhood, her fourteen years of intense training under Vidushi Sanjukta Ghosh of Patiala gharana formed her into a perfect singer. Apart from Khayal she also renders Thumri, Dadra, Tarana, Tappa, Ghazal, Bhajan, Folk and modern songs with equal ease and dexterity. She gathered proficiency in the light classical genre under The guidance of Late Sri Sukumar Mitra. At present, Sudokshina is a part time lecturer of Hinudustani music in a reputed college of Kolkata and vocal music teacher of Birla Academi. Kolkata. She has been performing not only in India for last 15 years, but also extensively toured in Europe and in Middle East.

Sohini Debnath has trained in Kathak under the renowned Kathak exponent, Smt. Rani Karnaa and is a regular performer in her presentations and lecture demonstrations. She also received training in Hindustani classical vocal music. Being a graduate from Presidency College, Calcutta, Sohini did her M.A. in Kathak from Rabindra Bharati University. She has won numerous awards including gold medals at the Dover Lane Music Conference and Rajya Sangeet Academy. She is a recipient of the National Scholarship for Dance from the Government of India.

Sudokshina Chatterjee studierte Englische Literatur an der Universität Kalkutta und Musik an Rabindra Bharati Universität Kolkata. Nachdem sie seit ihrer  Kindheit mit klassischer indischer Musik aufwuchs, machte sie eine Gesangsausbildung unter Vidushi Sanjukta Ghosh (Patiala Gharana) zu einer  perfekten Sängerin. Neben dem Khayal-Stil singt sie auch Thumri, Dadra, Tarana, Tappa, Ghazal, Bhajan, Folk und moderne Lieder mit gleicher Leichtigkeit.  Derzeit ist Sudokshina als Lehrbeauftragte der Hinudustani Musik in einem renommierten College von Kalkutta angestellt. Seit 15 Jahren präsentierte sie sich auf zahlreichen Tourneen in Indien, Europa und dem Mittleren Osten.

Sohini Debnath ist eine Schülerin der renommierten Kathak-Tänzerin Rani Karnaa. Daneben ist sie in klassischem Gesang ausgebildet. Sie hat zahlreiche Auszeichnungen erhalten, darunter Goldmedaillen der Dover Lane Music Conference und Rajya Sangeet Academy.
