Q.No. 1  Why do I need a Birth Certificate?

A Birth Certificate is often required by authorities in Germany for Travel, Proof of Citizenship Social Security, School Registration and other Legal purposes.

Q.No 2 Does the Embassy/Consulate issue a birth certificate?

You need to register birth of your newly-born child at the Embassy/Consulate concerned immediately after birth and in any case within one year of the birth of the child. Both of the parents are required to come to the Embassy/Consulate in person for registration of birth. The original Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Passports of both the parents should be brought to the Embassy/Consulate. Q.No. 3 Does the Embassy/Consulate issue any birth certificate?

The Embassy issues two types of certificates in this regard  

(i) Birth certificate for Newborn child It is issued to a newborn child at the time of birth registration. This is mandatory for the issue of first fresh passport.

(ii) Based on consular Records. This is issued to any Indian national who does not possess any other birth certificate. The certificate is issued solely on the basis of the passport entries and does not supersede any birth certificate issued earlier.
